A meeting of the Parish Council was held on Tuesday, 15th September, and full draft minutes are available here on the website. The following points however may be of particular interest:
- Formal submission of planning applications for the waste recycling facilities at Allerton Quarry will now not take place before June 2010, which is later than originally planned.
- It was agreed to make a grant of £750 to the Village Hall in the current year from parish funds, and consider ongoing grants in future years to help with running costs. The Clerk also advised that County Cllr John Watson had indicated that he would be able to support an application for grant funding towards the cost of kitchen equipment for the hall.
- There are spare funds currently available in the Parish Council's bank accounts and in commuted sums. The following projects were discussed fully: (i) One new bench seat on the Green opposite the pub, and another near The Mar. Local residents are encouraged to say whether or not they would be happy for that to go ahead. (ii) Landscaping near the Village Hall from commuted sums. (iii) Grasscutting. The Chairman is to discuss this matter with the Highways Authority as it is unclear which sections they cut at present and when. In particular the grass should be kept clear of the reflector posts on Shortshill Lane. (iv) Installation of a convex mirror at the Shortshill Lane/Clareton Lane junction. (v) Restoration of the pump at Coneythorpe.
For further news of these projects please attend the next full meeting of the Council.
Date of next Parish Council meeting:
Tuesday 17th November 2009, 7.30pm, in Arkendale Community Hall. All parishoners are invited to attend.
